FAQ

Can foreigners buy property in Chalong?

Yes, under the same rules as anywhere in Thailand. Land can be owned freehold only by Thai nationals, so a foreign villa buyer usually takes a registered 30-year lease of the land; renewals beyond that are a contract promise, not a right under Thai law. A condominium unit can be owned freehold by a foreigner while foreign ownership in the building stays within 49% of its floor area, with the purchase money brought in from abroad. Have an independent lawyer check the title and contracts before you sign.

How far is Chalong from the airport?

The guide above gives around 40 km to Phuket International Airport. By car allow about an hour, more in high-season traffic.

How much does property in Chalong cost?

In our current listings (October 2026), villas range from THB 30.6 to 75.9 million. These are asking prices or developer starting prices in Thai baht, and they change as homes sell.

Is there rental demand in Chalong?

Chalong is mainly a long-term rental market, with families and residents near the international schools. We do not quote projected yields: income depends on the home, the season and how it is managed, so ask us for actual rental figures for comparable homes. Under Thailand’s Hotel Act, letting a home for less than 30 days at a time generally needs a hotel licence, so check how a project’s rental programme is licensed.

Are the Chalong villas new or resale?

The three villas we list in Chalong are individual homes, not off-plan projects. Ask us about the status of each and arrange a viewing.
